I recently wrote about the shuttering of La Jolla Brew House in our May 2013 issue (page 9 in our Brews in the News section). Yesterday, La Jolla Patch got the scoop on what’s happening at the brewpub’s location. In summary, La Jolla Brew House has been sold and is now under new ownership as La Jolla Brewing Co. The brewpub is currently undergoing extensive renovation with a tentative opening date of August 2013.
Today, I spoke with brewmaster Brett Stampf. There will be 24 tap handles with six to eight house beers and the remaining tap handles will have a local emphasis. Working directly with the general contractor, Stampf is cleaning up and upgrading the brewhouse. Right now, a new glycol system is on order as well as a new control panel. “We have a budget to fix anything that needs fixing,” he added.
In the opinion of this writer, La Jolla Brew House had great potential that was never realized. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, La Jolla Brewing Co. seems poised to deliver a quality brewpub in a great location.

This is good news. Perhaps version 2 of La Jolla Brewing Company (the original brewpub of the same name, on the same site, operated through most of the nineties) will succeed where the Brew House did not.

This is great news… and reminds me of another question. Whatever happened to SOL Markets/Bistro in Liberty Station?

Glad to see it is under new ownership. The lady who ran it before was an atrocious person. I will be glad to check it out again now that she is out of the equation.
